Briggs & Stratton Announcements

WARRENDALE, Pa., Jan. 17, 2012 - Attention All Baja Teams,

It  has been brought to our attention a typographical error in section B2.5 Engine Requirement and Restrictions of the 2012 Baja rules. The acceptable Model number 20S332 0036-F1 was incorrectly stated. The corrected acceptable Model number is 20S232 0036-F1. We apologize for any confusion this error may have caused.

B2.5       Engine Requirement and Restrictions

               To provide a uniform basis for the performance events, all vehicles must use the same engine: a stock four cycle, air cooled, Briggs & Stratton OHV Intek Model.

               The following Briggs & Stratton engines are the only acceptable engines for the 2012 Baja SAE competitions:

20S232 0036-F1

205432 0536-E9

205332 0536-E9

205332 0536-B1

               The required engine must remain completely stock in all ways.

               NOTE: Blueprinting (reworking an engine to a manufacturer’s exact specifications) is considered to be modification.

NOTE ON AIR INTAKE: The current Briggs & Stratton Remote Air intake system for rule B2.5.10 has been discounted, Briggs is currently in development of a new remote air intake system for Baja Competitions and hope to have the testing and the part manufactured prior to the events.  SAE will keep you updated when the systems will be available, and how to obtain them.  The original system part numbers 792349 remote kits, 695329 – choke shaft and 699960 bases are still acceptable.
