Design Judging Process Changes for the 2012 Baja SAE Auburn Competition

WARRENDALE, Pa., Jan. 18, 2012 - Design Judging Process Changes for the 2012 Baja SAE Auburn Competition

1.      The entire car will be evaluated at one time by an integrated panel of judges.  Teams will need to give a brief overview of the car's goals and design process to the entire panel.  Then team members may then break up to discuss the car's systems in detail with subsets of the judging panel.  The team will then be excused, and the panel will convene to determine the team's raw score.  As absolute scores from panel to panel may vary systematically, normalization between panels will be applied.

2.      The judges in each team's evaluation panel will also be that team's design report judges.  Therefore, each evaluation judge will have read the team's design report, and may be expected to have formulated evaluation questions from that basis.

This design system will be piloted at the Baja SAE Auburn competition and we will be asking for feedback on the process in follow up surveys and onsite.

**Design judging at the other 2 competitions (Baja SAE Wisconsin and Baja SAE Oregon) will remain the same as previous years.**
