Mike ONeil steps down as Design Event Captain of FSAE-Lincoln

WARRENDALE, Pa., Oct. 31, 2012 - SAE International Collegiate Design Series staff would like to announce that Mike O’Neil has decided to step down as Design Event Captain for 2013 Formula SAE-Lincoln early this fall.  Formula SAE Lincoln started out as Formula SAE – West in 2006, but then renamed as Formula SAE – California in 2007 and eventually renamed and relocated to current home in Lincoln, NE in 2012.

T
oo modest to keep track of how long he has been involved; we have tracked his involvement back to 1990, first as a student competitor while attending University of Akron, then serving as an advisor before stepping up to volunteer as a design judge eventually graduating to event captain in 2006. Mike has selflessly given to FSAE for over 20 years, and for that we would like to give a hearty Thank You on behalf of the SAE International Collegiate Design Series Staff and all the volunteers who have come to know and work alongside Mike for all these years.

Mike has always stated that he enjoyed giving back to young engineering students through this program and his decision to step down was not made lightly; however his recently accepted position of Technical Director at Essex Parts Service, in North Carolina calls for more of his attention. In addition to his professional responsibilities; Mike will be continuing to pursue his second national championship with his long time passion of motorcycle racing. Mike did express an interest in remaining involved in FSAE, and you just might see him at Lincoln in 2013.  If you happen to spot Mike, don’t be afraid to stop him and say thanks for a job well done!

Thank you Mike!
