Formula Hybrid Announces Removal of Accumulator Cost Restrictions

WARRENDALE, Pa., Nov. 28, 2012 - In order to improve compatibility and competitiveness with FSAE Electric vehicles, Formula Hybrid has removed the cost restrictions on accumulator devices in all Formula Hybrid categories, beginning with the 2013 competition.

These restrictions were originally written into the 2006 Formula Hybrid rules to maintain a level playing field between teams with different funding levels.  However, this rule recently identified as a potential handicap for teams building a vehicle to the Formula Hybrid Electric-only rules, when competing in the new FSAE-Electric competitions, and thus has been repealed.

Rules for the 2013 Formula Hybrid competition can be found online at:

REMINDER: DEADLINE FOR 2013 FORMULA HYBRID COMPETITION REGISTRATION IS DECEMBER 19, 2012 at 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time.
