SAE International and ASTM International Join to Hold Aerospace Alternative Fuels Symposium

WARRENDALE, Pa., March 7, 2013 - SAE International and ASTM International both are committed to strengthening aerospace professional knowledge using each group’s unique capabilities and perspectives. Toward that goal, the organizations have signed a cooperation agreement regarding the “SAE 2013 Aerospace Alternative Fuels and Associated Environmental Impacts Symposium.”

Through that agreement, ASTM International will provide assistance and cooperation in setting the conference agenda, recommending and securing relevant speakers, and by serving on the conference organizing committee. In addition, ASTM International will help promote the event through its publications and email newsletters.

The “SAE 2013 Aerospace Alternative Fuels and Associated Environmental Impacts Symposium” will be held June 13-14 in Brussels, Belgium, and will address a variety of topics, including:

- Current production processes of fossil fuels and alternative fuels

 

- Technical implications from the use of alternative fuels on current and future propulsion system development

 

- Non-drop-in alternatives

 

- Economic impacts pertaining to the introduction of alternative aerospace fuels into existing infrastructures

 

- Environmental impacts – carbon footprints, impact on C02, NOx, SOx, water consumption, life cycle analysis

In addition, attendees will participate in interactive panel discussions featuring subject experts from regulatory associations and top industry organizations.
