WARRENDALE, Pa., Nov. 1, 2013 - Important Notice for 2014 Supermileage Competitors Regarding Engine Use

With the announcement made in the 2013 Rules communicating an engine change in 2015, there has been recent inquiry by few teams about ability to compete in 2014 with the new Briggs & Stratton Junior 206, Model 124332 Type 8202-01 engine the competition will be using starting in 2015.

Below is reference to the Rule announcement made under B2.1 Base Engine:
Important Notice for 2015 Supermileage
Effective with the 2015 Supermileage competition the base engine supplied by Briggs & Stratton will change. The Model 091202 Type 1016E1A1001 is going out of production. At this time we anticipate the new engine that will be supplied in 2015 will be the B&S Junior 206 is 124332-8202-01. This new, more expensive, engine will be furnished to teams below Briggs & Stratton’s cost. The new engine fee is expected to be approximately US$325.00.

SAE, Eaton Organizers and Supermileage Rules Committee members have discussed these inquiries and have decided to allow teams to compete with either engine in the 2014 competition.

As part of the 2014 SAE Supermileage registration process, teams will only be able to order the Model 091202 Type 1016E1A1001 for free of charge. This will be the last year teams can order this engine through SAE. 

Please Note: The new engine will not be available at discount through SAE’s registration process until 2015; teams who wish to compete with the Briggs & Stratton Junior 206, Model 124332 Type 8202-01 will have to obtain the engine at their own expense through a local dealer.
