How Do You Raise Engine Efficiency Via Boosting or Downsizing? Find out During SAE International's New Webcast

WARRENDALE, Pa., Sept. 18, 2013 - A new, free-of-charge Webcast from SAE International  features experts from the supercharging, turbocharging, and engine-systems fields who will present their companies’ latest developments with an eye toward the future and field questions from the audience in what is sure to be an engaging and useful event.

Raising Engine Efficiency Through Boosting/Downsizing” will be held Thursday, Sept. 19 and begin at Noon (EDT).

The tough global CO2 and fuel economy regulations slated for 2017-2025 are driving OEMs and suppliers to develop more innovative engine technologies. Boosting systems are not only playing an expanded role in engine downsizing but also in trends toward downspeeding and lean/dilute combustion. New concepts in supercharging for fuel economy, as well as performance, are challenging turbocharger incumbents. Complementing this work are creative developments “in cylinder,” which are helping to transform the “pressurized” ICE for 2025 and beyond.

Speakers will include:

- Scott Makowski, Manager, Global Large I4 Programs, Ford Motor Co.

- Grant Terry, Business Development Manager, Supercharger Division, Eaton Corp.

- Frank Zwein, Global Director, Application Engineering, Valve Seats and Guides, Federal-Mogul Powertrain

The Webcast is sponsored by Federal Mogul, Ticona and Eaton, and hosted by SAE International.

Moderator will be Lisa Arrigo, Custom Electronic Products Editor, SAE International.
