| A World In Motion - AWIM |
AWIM
We are seeking volunteers to help support the instruction of technical principles in our elementary schools through a program called AWIM.
AWIM is a teacher-administered, industry volunteer-assisted program and brings science, technology, engineering and mathematics to life, right in the classroom.
AWIM kits with literature are made available by the school in cooperation with SAE.
At this time two teachers at the following schools are looking for a volunteer each:
1)Thornwood Public School, for a grade 2 class: 277 Mississauga Valley Boulevard, Mississauga, Ontario.
2)Sam Chapman P.S., for a grade 5 to 7 club in North East Markham / Major Mac and HWY 48 area. The teacher has indicated interest in working with an SAE volunteer, who would provide technical skills in using an AWIM Motorized Toy Car kit in the class. The school is French Immersion, so French would be preferable. The kit literature is available in French and English. One of the club teachers has some experience with the motorized toy car kit. An expert will be required 3 times during lunch period.
We would like to encourage you to consider this opportunity, as sharing one’s technical know-how and passion, especially with children, is a very rewarding experience.
If you are interested please email us at ms051@email.sae.org
