William G. Belfry Memorial
/ SAE Grant This scholarship program is sponsored by
the SAE
Foundation Canada and the SAE
Central Ontario Section, through
the generous support from friends of the late William G. Belfry. Mr. Belfry
was a long time member, exemplary leader and exceptional engineer within
SAE and the Central Ontario Section. This scholarship was established to
honor his passion for life, his leadership skills and his dedication to
the service of others. Applicants will be judged on academic and leadership
achievement, essay content, intent to pursue a career in mobility engineering,
and involvement in SAE collegiate chapter activities with a recommendation
from the SAE Faculty Advisor. Student Eligibility Requirements - Full-time college junior at Canadian universities.
- Canadian citizen at time of application.
- Demonstrate the intent to pursue a career
in mobility engineering and show academic and leadership achievements as
well as show involvement in SAE Collegiate Chapter activities.
Terms
of Scholarship: Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded each year: - One scholarship will be awarded to a Canadian
citizen enrolled at any Canadian university.
- One scholarship will be specific to a student
at the University of Toronto.

networking dinner featuring three guest speakers who are experts in the fields
of patents, intellectual property and government tax credits (SR&ED).
In these tough economic times, it is becoming increasingly
important to reduce the cost of development and to protect the resultant
products and processes from being utilized by competitors.
It is with this understanding that SAE Central Ontario
would like to provide you with the opportunity to ask questions of these

| Winter Driving School w/ Ian Law |

Winter Driving School
with Ian Law of IRL Car Control School
This full day course (8:00 am to 4:30 pm) consists of easy going morning classroom sessions followed by an afternoon of driving exercises in your own vehicle designed to allow each student to put into practice new information gleaned from the classroom.
The Classroom Session will dispel many myths and misconceptions regarding winter driving technique as well as vehicle knowledge, the best tires for you, and maintenance. We'll explore the correct way to use all the controls, mirror positioning, vision training, processing information, and driver psychology unique to our ProActive Driving approach. We'll teach you the secrets to prepare for winter driving and how to read road conditions. You will learn not only how to avoid skids, but how to recover from a skid. We'll also explain ABS brakes, emergency braking, tires, skid recovery and much more in these friendly classroom sessions.
The Driving Exercises are all designed to help you learn how to control your vehicle and to understand how it will react in emergency situations while developing new and important life saving driving skills. You will experience our Skid Pad, Slalom, Emergency Braking, Collision Avoidance and Emergency Lane Change driving exercises all with one of our highly experienced instructors sitting with you to guide you and give you instant feedback.
This Course is a 'must do' for anyone who drives in the winter. Bring yourself and bring your son/daughter/spouse. It is designed for ALL drivers regardless of age or experience. Two people can share a vehicle and will get equal 'seat time'.
