Powertrain Systems Calibration Seminar
Present day and future challenges
One day seminar
Powertrain Laboratory, University of Bradford
19 March 2014
A quiet revolution in powertrain technology continues as engine
manufacturers are forced to comply with ever lower legislative limits on
emissions and requirements for improved fuel economy. A vehicle’s propulsion
technology must be decided upon well in advance of the development process and
is in many cases included without an explicit specification for the calibration
processes that are directly affected by the inclusion of new technologies.
The aim of this one-day seminar is to consider the challenges
associated with the calibration of light and heavy duty powertrain controllers
taking account of technology and legislation in both light and heavy duty
engines. This will be considered in the context of both present day and future
powertrains. The topics considered are; process and methodology, powertrain
testing, real world drive cycles, hybridisation, turbocharging and EGR, cycle
optimisation, off-road applications, real world emissions and emissions
The timetable includes the opportunity to hear from a number of
speakers from industry and academia with time for networking and panel
discussion on a number key topics including consideration of industry
