SAE 2012 Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress

Technical Session Schedule

Tuesday, October 2

Combustion System Design, Analysis, and Testing
(Session Code: CV307)

Room 47  1:30 p.m.

Design, analysis and testing results address approaches to limit emissions and improve efficiency. Approaches span “cold and dilute” with in-cylinder control over NOx and “hot” combustion where NOx is reduced in the exhaust. Prediction (3D and 1D) and testing consider fuel systems, air motion, bowl geometry, charge mixing, and levels of dilution. Impact on combustion through advanced technologies such as flexible valve actuation, boosting systems, and fuel composition are also considered.

Organizers - William De Ojeda, Navistar; Steve Gravante, Navistar Inc.
Chairpersons - William De Ojeda, Navistar; Steve Gravante, Navistar Inc.
