SAE 2013 World Congress & Exhibition

Technical Session Schedule

Wednesday, April 17

PANEL: Technical Judgments and Cost-Benefit Trade-Offs When Collecting and Using Limited Information for Design Under Uncertainty: An Expert Panel Discussion
(Session Code: IDM200)

Room D0-02B  2:40 p.m.

The objective of this session is to initiate a debate about how to measure the value of information from tests or computer simulations in a particular design decision. Additional topics mayi nclude: • Quantification of uncertainty in probabilistic models -- limitations of confidence intervals for the mean value of a random variable and the probability of an event • Assessing the accuracy of models of uncertainty • Probabilities of extreme events and joint probability distributions

Organizers - Zissimos Mourelatos, Oakland University; Efstratios Nikolaidis, University Of Toledo
