OEM Reports: Semiconductor Challenges in Electrified Powertrain


Dr. Sayeed Ahmed is the Director of Power-train and Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) business at Infineon Technologies North America. Dr. Ahmed markets a broad product portfolio which includes 32-bit microcontroller, power devices, power modules, integrated circuit products (driver, transmission, battery management) and other standard products. These products are used in several key applications such as engine control, transmission control, HEV/EV inverters, DC-DC converters, chargers and battery management systems. Before joining Infineon, Dr. Ahmed worked at Fairchild Semiconductor as a Senior Manager for Marketing and Business Development in automotive products group. Previously, Dr. Ahmed worked as power electronics engineering manager at Ecostar Electric Drives responsible for design of power inverters and DC-DC converters for vehicle applications. Dr. Ahmed started his career at International Rectifier as a project leader in Electronic Motions Systems group. Dr. Ahmed holds a Ph. D. in engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Dr. Ahmed has been awarded several patents.
