Mort Smith is a Principal Engineer in the Vehicle Regulation & Certification Dept. at Toyota Technical Center (TTC), the North American research & development arm of Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America (TEMA). He has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland, and worked as a patent examiner and powertrain test engineer before joining Toyota in 2000. He is responsible for California Air Resources Board certification and regulatory issues, primarily in the OBD area, and participates in various SAE task forces related to OBD diagnostic protocols (J1979, J2012, J1962, J1699-3).
