BAE Systems Hybrid
Derek started his career in 1995 with Ford Motor Co., in 1998 he transferred to Ford’s Ecostar electric drive group in Dearborn Michigan. For 2 years he was on loan, to the Daimler owned, sister company Xcellsis, in Vancouver Canada, leading propulsion system design for Fuel Cell bus applications. In 2007 he made the move to BAE Systems and became the System Engineering Lead for the Army’s MULE autonomous vehicle program. In 2008 he transitioned to the Sr. Principal System engineer providing technical lead for BAE’s new foray into the commercial truck market, and was a key architect in the parallel hybrid system. After all that fun and good work he found himself working OBD for hybrid systems at BAE, and to this day… wonders what he did wrong?
