Overview
In November 1999, SAE received a request from the FAA to establish a committee that would prepare industry specifications for airport snow and ice control equipment (ASICE). The FAA felt very strongly that the need exists within the international aviation community for an ASICE committee. They are seeking an enhanced process to provide the aviation industry with state-of-the-art specifications. They also see it as a vehicle to allow for rapid response to technological changes.
This request for a new Committee was reviewed and approved by the SAE Aerospace Council. The new committee is designated as G-15, Airport Snow and Ice Control Equipment. G-15 will report to the SAE Aerospace General Projects Division, which falls directly under the SAE Aerospace Council.
The Co-Chairman of this new group is George Legarreta, FAA. An airport operator will be identified as the other Co-Chair of the group. If you are interested in participating in this new committee, please contact Mr. Legarreta George.Legarreta@faa.gov, Phone: 202/267-8766.
