Overview
The SAE S-7 Committee was formed to fulfill a need for the air transport industry to monitor itself with respect to uniformity of cockpit design for air transport aircraft.
Standardization of the flight deck is becoming increasingly important to both operators and manufacturers. The objective is to design for the operational efficiencies necessary to maintain a competitive and viable air transportation industry. This must be accomplished while maintaining or improving the existing levels of operating efficiencies and safety. The S-7 Committees is committed to serving this purpose. This is an international committee of members representing major aircraft manufacturers, airlines from United States, Europe, and the Far East, as well as equipment designers, manufacturers, regulatory authorities, and other interested parties.
