The Heavy-Duty Lighting Standards Committee is part of the Vehicle Engineering Systems Group that reports to the Motor Vehicle Council (MVC). The Committee is responsible for developing and maintaining SAE Standards, Recommended Practices, and Information Reports related to lamps, reflective devices and associated equipment for multipurpose passenger vehicles, trucks, trailers and buses of 2032 mm or more in overall width. Heavy-duty lighting technical standards developed by this committee are essentially patterned after the corresponding lighting device standards for vehicles less than 2032 mm in overall width, but with more stringent environmental, physical and photometry requirements.
The J2577 Heavy Duty Lamp to Connector Interface and J577 Vibration Testing Machine task forces have been developed under the committee's scope.
Participants in the SAE Heavy-Duty Lighting Standards Committee include OEMs, suppliers, consulting firms, government, and other interested parties.
