| This SAE Standard applies to Carbon Dioxide R-744 refrigerant used to service motor vehicle passenger air-conditioning (A/C) systems designed to use CO2 (R-744). Carbon dioxide (R-744) when used as a refrigerant in mobile air-conditioning systems shall contain an odorant as an identification of refrigerant leaking from the system.
Hermetically sealed, refrigerated cargo systems are not covered by this document.
