Titanium Alloy Bars, Wire, Forgings, Rings, and Drawn Shapes, 6Al - 4V, Annealed
This specification covers a titanium alloy in the form of bars, wire, forgings, flash welded rings, drawn shapes up through 6.000 inches (152.40 mm) inclusive in diameter or least distance between parallel sides, and stock of any size for forging or flash welded rings.
AMS4928U results from an update to restrict material to the sizes of the mechanical property tables (1.1), to require vacuum in the first consumable electrode melt (3.2) and agreement on mechanical property values on material outside specification ranges (18.104.22.168.5 and 8.5), adds AS6279 (3.8), and revises the report paragraph (4.4). Change bars are retained from AMS4928T for a correction to Paragraph 3.5 to remove the requirement for microstructure after heat treatment that mistakenly existed when the room temperature notch rupture test was previously removed (AMS4928T) (See 8.1.1).
