Title
Duty Cycle Considerations for EHA
Scope
This standard establishes a common rationale by which actuation duty cycles can be reduced and assessed for EHAs.
Rationale
Life-limiting factors for the EHA differ greatly from those of conventional servoactuators, in particular because the hydraulic pump is commonly the life-limiting component. The pump is subject to wear and fatigue in ways that a servo-controlled ram is not. The standard will provide airframers and EHA designers a rational method for evaluating actuation duty cycles on the basis of their effects on the pump and motor, and permit design of endurance tests on that basis.
