Title
Cockpit Crew Oxygen Equipment for use from 35,000 ft to 45,000 ft altitude
Scope
This Aerospace Standard will provide the basis for a certification approach and contain the methods or criteria for verification of performance required of Personal Oxygen Dispensing Units for use by Cockpit Crew Members in the range of 35,000 to 45,000 ft cabin altitude.
Rationale
Several documents deal with High Altitude Exposure Considerations. None of them specifically describes either basis for certification or criteria for verification of performance required above 40,000 ft cabin altitude. With modern commercial aircrafts reaching above 40,000 ft cruise altitude there is a growing need to consider hypoxia protection above 40,000 ft cabin altitude for Cockpit Crew Members. Regulations now have considerations for allowance to 45,000 ft cabin altitude and will be considered as an upper limit.
