Black Title LATCH, OVER-CENTER Scope The latch standard will identify the performance requirements and some interface requirements for an over-center latch with the primary intended use being for closure and securing shipping and storage containers. Rationale Currently, there is no standard that identify the materials and performance requirements for latch type hardware on shipping and storage containers. Consequently, manufacturers lack design criteria and users lack selection guidance for achieving the appropriate reliability and life cycle costs. The new standard will incorporate the experience of container users and manufacturers to substantially provide the missing criteria and guidance
