Title
Guidelines for Repair Process Evaluation of Aluminum Bonded Structure
Scope
This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR), “Guidelines For Repair Process Evaluation Of Aluminum Bonded Structure”, is intended to be used as a process verification guide for evaluating implementation of key factors in repair of aluminum bonded parts or assemblies at a repair station. This guide is to be used in conjunction with a substantiated repair process and is intended to promote consistency and reliability during the accomplishment of that substantiated repair process.
Rationale
During accomplishment of previously substantiated repairs to aluminum bonded structure, gaps often exist between a repair process design and repair implementation planning. Standardization is necessary, in order to provide an aid to the reviewer of the repair implementation plan, which includes a checklist of best practices in implementation of tooling, process steps, and quality controls that help ensure that previously substantiated repair design and process requirements are met during accomplishment of a repair.
