Rubber: Hydrogenated Butadiene-Acrylonitrile (HNBR), Synthetic Hydrocarbon Hydraulic Fluid Resistant, for Seals in Hydraulic Fluid Systems
Form: This specification covers Hydrogenated Butadiene-Acrylonitrile (HNBR) rubber used to produce seals, gaskets and other molded products for use in synthetic mineral oil (hydrocarbon) based hydraulic fluids. Application: This material is used typically for contact with synthetic mineral oil (hydrocarbon) based hydraulic fluids conforming to MIL-PRF-83282, MIL-PRF-46170, and MIL-PRF-87257, but usage is not limited to such applications. Each application should be considered separately. This material has a service temperature range of -55° to +300°F (-48° to +150°C).
This specification was developed as a higher-temperature altenative to materials previously purchased to MIL-P-83461, AMS-P-83461, AMS-P-25732, and MIL-STD-25732 to address the continually increasing operating temperatures of aircraft hydraulic systems.
