While the SAE J 2530 is a recommended practice, SAE J 2530/1 specifies the requirements of the SAE Wheel Certification Program. This program provides a procedure for wheel manufacturers to certify and register compliance to the SAE J 2530. Display of SAE J 2530 is any form must be preceded by the following: 1. Manufacturer Registration: Manufacturer registration to be completed via the SAE website http://wheeldb.sae.org and involves registering company contact information, products produced, and company identification marks. 2. Wheel Test Facility Certification and Registration: Wheel Test facility application and submittal of test results can also be accomplished via the above stated SAE website and shall be accomplished in accordance to the following procedures. 3. Wheel design certification Each family of wheel designs must be tested in accordance to SAE J 2530 and the data submitted to the above noted SAE site. 4. Use of SAE J 2530 Upon submittal of items 1 to 3 above, SAE will post the image, identification and certification of the family of wheel on the SAE site. Use of SAE J 2530 in any form is restricted to wheels noted in the Certified wheel registry. Manufacturers of aftermarket wheels for passenger cars and light trucks who advertise their products as "Certified to SAE J2530" and label their product with the "SAE J2530" mark, shall follow these procedures. Certification of products to SAE J2530 is voluntary, however, adherence to these procedures is mandatory for those advertising their products as “Certified to SAE J2530”. Certification will require manufacturer registration, certification of testing facility or laboratory and submittal of test results from a certified facility.
