Committee AE-6, Starting Systems and Auxiliary Power
Scope: Establishes standards for aerospace and industrial engine starting, auxiliary power, and related secondary systems. These include pneumatic, electrical, gaseous, and hydraulic starting systems, as well as auxiliary power units, ground power, and secondary systems providing pneumatic, electric and hydraulic power.

Committee E-25, General Standards for Aerospace and Propulsion Systems
Scope: Establishes constant quality utility part standards for aerospace propulsion engines and propellers including bolts, screws, nuts, washers, studs, rivets, pins, fluid fittings, gaskets, covers, O-rings, brackets, clamps, plugs, as well as design specifications for screw threads and fastener assembly requirements.

Committee E-32, Engine Conditioning Monitoring
Scope: Gathers, analyzes, and develops standards relative to the requirements for engine monitoring for the various types of aircraft propulsion equipment and turbine engines. Identifies suitable parameters for sensing, analyzes approaches, establishes criteria for the most cost effective systems, and defines new requirements and uses.

Committee E-33, In-Flight Propulsion Measurement
Scope: The In-Flight Propulsion Measurement Committee reviews industry methods and state-of-the-art on in-flight thrust measurement/prediction and its uncertainty. These include ASME, ISO, MIDAP, USAF, JANNAF, and NBS methods and their sources of error. The Committee determines whether there is a basis to support development of new methods for measuring/predicting in-flight thrust and/or development of new procedures for determining uncertainty.

Committee E-34, Propulsion Lubricants Committee
Scope: This committee encompasses lubricants for gas turbine engines and aircraft gear boxes and accessories. In addition, the work of the committee encompasses lubricants for privately owned jet or turbo propeller engines that operate on synthetic lubricants.

Committee E-35, Propulsion Economics for Acqusition and Ownership
Scope: Using a systems cost, design-to-cost, operating and support and life cycle cost (DTC/O&S/LCC) approach, the Committee develops SAE documents to improve industry/government coordination, cooperation and communication. Research & development, acquisition, operating & support and disposal program phases will be addressed by DTC/O&S/LCC elements. General recognition of DTC/O&S/LCC impact upon related aerospace systems also is addressed for improved overall systems cost allocations and optimization.

Committee E-36, Electronic Engine Controls
Scope: Areas of interest will include, but not be limited to, the design, installation, operation and maintenance of engine control system components including metering components and actuators and the interface and communication methods for cockpit displays, flight control, diagnostic and health monitoring systems. Coordination with other SAE committees will occur to minimize redundant activities within the organization and maximize the benefit of additional recommendations and standards.

Committee EG-1, Aerospace Propulsion Systems Support Equipment
Scope: Applies standardization principles where possible and develops guidance for new designs that further the advancement of support equipment for propulsion systems. Primary activities include development of industry standards, recommended practices, and technical information reports on support equipment and facilities related to gas turbine engine testing, balancing, engine accessory testing, inspection, packaging, handling and transportability. Standards for high performance hand tools for aerospace use are also developed by EG-1.

Committee S-15, Engine Performance Presentation for Electronic Digital Computers
Scope: Provides recommendations relative to the information contained in gas turbine engine performance data for airframers, the military, NASA, and also the format required to interface with these users' computers and programs.

Committee S-16, Turbine Engine Inlet Flow Distortion
Scope: Develops uniform procedures for adoption by industry. These procedures will permit representation of inlet distortion and evaluation of its effect on propulsion systems’ stability and performance.
