Vehicle Electric Power Supply Systems Standards Committee

Statement of Scope for the SAE Committee on Vehicle Electrical Power Supply Systems
The Vehicle Electrical Power Supply Systems Standards Committee will direct its efforts to develop recommended practices and standards that achieve global harmony, allow uniform testing and/or performance standards, create common nomenclature, and permit common interfaces for the following aspects of a vehicle's electric power supply system:

1. Electric power generation devices,
2. Battery voltage regulation devices and methods,
3. Electric power supply commonized performance & nomenclature requirements,
4. Electrical system voltage and loading operating range conditions,
5. Electrical power system diagnostics and serviceability requirements.

The committee has agreed to limit it's scope to the areas listed above on conventional light duty trucks and passenger cars only, which use internal combustion powerplants for their motive drive. This committee will not work on items involved in electric vehicle or storage battery technology areas.
