G3 Committee interfaces with DoD, DOT, FAA, and industry

Working with the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for several years has resulted in release of TSO (Technical Standard Order)-C140. This TSO applies to hose assemblies used in aerospace, and it updates and supersedes the TSOs that have been in use since 1960.

Working with the Department of Defense (DoD)—primarily the Defense Supply Center Columbus—G3 Aerospace Couplings, Fittings, Hose & Tubing Assemblies Committee is participating in MILSPEC (Military Specifications) Reform by review of MILSPECs being revised to MIL-DTL or MIL-PRF documents and in converting MILSPECs to industry standards. This includes the MIL-H-25579 family of specifications, the de facto world standard for medium pressure PTFE hose assemblies.

G3 has also taken an active interest in AS8879, which is intended to replace MIL-S-8879, a primary "J"-style thread specification. This effort involves E-25, DOT, FAA, DoD, as well as many industry participants.
