SAE 2017 Aerospace Standards Summit

Emerging Technologies & the Enabling Role of Standards

The 2017 SAE Aerospace Standards Summit attracted a record 90 delegates and speakers.

The Summit brought together civil and military regulators responsible for certification, aerospace industry leaders and subject matter experts and provided a platform to facilitate the successful introduction of transformational technologies such as IoT and Digital Manufacturing, Novel Vertical Flight, Model Based Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, Wireless Networking and Nano Materials.

  • Presentations, panel discussions, and informal exchange of ideas on subjects critical to industry and government

  • IOT and Digital Manufacturing- Speakers from ATI, ATOS, Rolls-Royce and IBM
  • Novel Vertical Flight -Speakers from EASA and GAMA
  • MBSE-Speakers from INCOSE, UK MoD, UTAS and Airbus
  • Wireless Networking -Speakers from EASA, Airbus and Southampton University
  • Cybersecurity- Speakers from ICAO, EASA, FAA, and the EC
  • Nano Materials- Speakers from Rolls-Royce and CSEM SA Switzerland
  • In addition updates were provided on topics presented during the September 2016 Summits

The overall feedback from attendees was very positive. In particular, comments were made on the high standard of the presentations and the opportunities for networking during the scheduled breaks and the evening dinner held at a local restaurant.

Future Summits
SAE International will be holding its next Aerospace Standards Summit in the Autumn of 2018 either in the US or Canada
