A World In Motion: the Design Experience was introduced in 1996. It is a multi-disciplinary curriculum for middle school grades 7 and 8. The SAE Foundation received a $1.8 million dollar grant from the National Science Foundation to fund the development of this curriculum. The SAE Foundation continues to support the implementation of the program through industry contributions. Every middle school that is willing to establish a partnership with a business or organization that will sponsor volunteer support for the classroom is eligible to receive a free curriculum kit and one set of classroom materials (enough for 27 students).
