Abstract:
A long term objective to improve consistancy and quantify the amount of corrosion resistance that could be obtained has been pursued for several years, but instigation of any procedural change in a thirty year old captive chromium plating shop was hard to justify. To develop direct comparisons of various factors, a two-level fractional factorial experiment was designed. Ten factors chosen for economic potential were evaluated. Through implementation of the results, greater corrosion resistance was achieved, and production improvement methods increased corrosion resistance.
