Scope:
These RPs are intended for light and heavy duty vehicles used primarily off road as well as appropriate stationary applications which use vehicle derived components (e.g. generator sets). Vehicles of interest include, but are not limited to: construction equipment; and agricultural equipment and implements. The purpose of these RPs is to provide an open interconnect system for electronic systems. It is the intention of these recommended practices to allow Electronic Control Units to communicate with each other by providing a standard architecture. This document is intended to specify the requirements for application of J1939 in construction and agricultural equipment. This document specifies the series of documents within the set of J1939 documents that are applicable to construction and agricultural equipment and provides further requirements for this industry.
