The Operator Protection Committee (OPTC) is a part of the Construction, Agriculture, and Off-Road Machinery (ConAg) Council. The OPTC is responsible for standards related to the protection of personnel associated with the operation of off-road vehicles, self-propelled work machines and equipment that is generally used in landscaping, construction, grounds keeping, highway and public works maintenance, and material handling. The following are specifically excluded: powered industrial trucks (ANSI B56), agricultural and self-propelled equipment and implements, and on-highway vehicles as well as water and air transportation vehicles and/or machines.
The OPTC is comprised of four subcommittees dedicated to creating, preparing and maintaining all relevant specifications, standards, and requirements. These subcommittees include:

OPTC SC2 Braking
OPTC SC3 Lighting and Marking
OPTC SC4 Protective Structures
Participants in the SAE OPTC committee include OEMs, suppliers, consulting firms, government, and others across the construction and agriculture industries.
