The Sound Signaling (Horn) Standards Committee is part of the Vehicle Sound Level Forum Committee that reports to the Vehicle Systems Group of the Motor Vehicle Council. The Committee is responsible for developing and maintaining an SAE Standard related to a consistent industry-wide standard for vehicular horns, which includes standard requirements, standard testing and validation, and common connectors. The standard comprehends all legal requirements worldwide, and current updates to the standard include the addition of new technologies as they emerge and modifications to international standards and laws (such as ISO, EEC, and ECE) to match current and pending technology.
