2017 Annual Report


SAE International continues to invest in various technology platforms and systems to ensure user experience and member needs are met. In 2017, a variety of initiatives across various departments was launched to improve the operational process.

The largest technological improvement endeavor features the relaunch of SAE.org. To truly serve as a resource for the mobility industry, the website—and the initial perception of a global standards development organization—required an overhaul. The improved site, slated to launch first-quarter 2018, will include a modern design; search capability that is customer-focused; a digital foundation for future content delivery in support of the SAE content-driven strategy; a site that tells the One SAE story and reinforces the powerful, comprehensive, and personalized brand. Most important, the new SAE.org will provide stakeholders with easier access to learn and understand all that SAE International has to offer.

Within the website is MOBILUS®, the destination source for mobility engineers. MOBILUS® provides distinct advantages, including organized content, personal and customizable logins, translation capabilities, and a help portal containing guides and how-to videos all to meet the objectives of improved user experiences.

MOBILUS® provides mobility engineers access to multiple Knowledge Hubs—Advanced Manufacturing, Cybersecurity and Powertrain—and serves as one entry point for comprehensive resources, training, and trending news. Within the platform, a variety of specific information units pertaining to topics have been developed to address the requests of mobility engineers globally. Additional Knowledge Hub topics are in development.

Several departments have coordinated efforts to establish an organization-wide volunteer platform via a consistent software platform. This system will improve the workflow between staff and volunteers relevant to engagement, communications, and operations.

As the mobility industry advances, SAE International will develop and implement technological process improvements that address productivity and operational methods.  These ongoing efforts affirm our position as the ultimate knowledge source for the mobility engineering industry.
