Opening Keynote

Kelly Funkhouser

Program Manager, Vehicle Interface–Consumer Reports

Kelly Funkhouser, Program Manager, Vehicle Interface at Consumer Reports,  will deliver the opening keynote session at the 2018 Brake Colloquium & Exhibition and will address consumer acceptance of electronic braking systems (EBS) and other braking technologies.  Funkhouser has spent the past 10 years studying human factors and usability of vehicle technology systems. She has worked on various projects for government and industry assessing driver distraction, cooperative driving, transfer of control, driver perceptions, and trust in automation. Funkhouser recently joined the auto test team at Consumer Reports as the Program Manager for Vehicle Usability and Automation. She assesses driver interactions with controls, infotainment systems, and all levels of automation. She believes the key to ensuring the safety benefits of new technologies is through a driver-centered design that propels consumer acceptance, trust, and correct use.
