Young professional activities – Ample mentoring sessions and networking opportunities are available throughout the event to provide young professionals with direct access to influential engineering management and leadership from top companies.
See Navistar’s collection of antique International trucks (Canceled) – On Thursday, Sept. 13, Navistar is offering a free bus ride and tour of its collection of more than 30 International trucks dating from 1907 to 1980. Join to see everything from an early truck with wagon wheels, to cab-over models and Scouts. Highlights include a 1939 D-Series pickup re-envisioned as a hot rod with a 7.0-L diesel engine, WWII U.S. military highway tractor, and more.
L. Ray Buckendale Lecture – This year's award recipient, Kirk T. Steudle, P.E., of the Michigan Department of Transportation, will discuss "Reshaping Communities Through Transformational Technologies" on Thursday, Sept. 13. Niles Annelin, Transportation Policy Specialist, Michigan Department of Transportation, will co-lecture with Stuedle.
Commercial Vehicle Awards – Perhaps the most satisfying recognition that an individual in any profession can achieve is peer recognition of accomplishments. This type of recognition is not only gratifying but frequently is the spur to even greater accomplishment, with the result being technological and, often, social benefits for the individual's associates, employer and the general public.
Get involved with an SAE technical committee - Join us Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, from 8:00-9:00 a.m. in the Grand Ballroom Foyer to meet with committee chairs/vice chairs, ask questions, and learn more about the COMVEC committees on Aerodynamics, Chassis, Powertrain, and Total Vehicle Mechatronics & Integration.
Posters on display – Students and young engineers will be displaying posters in the exhibit hall on Tuesday and Wednesday. Stop by and visit to hear about their latest work.
Exhibitor Spotlight (Part 1, Part 2) – The focus of this session is for exhibitors to discuss technology contained within their product and what pain point or problem does it solve for the customer. Each of the TED-like oral presentations will be 10 minutes in duration and presented during lunch or networking breaks on the exhibit floor.
SAE International does not use a housing bureau or third-party agency for hotel accommodations or any other travel arrangements. Any claims by any company stating otherwise are not true. Please be sure you are booking directly through the links on this page or directly with a specific property.
SAE International has made every effort to secure the best possible group nightly room rate for you at this event. That rate results from a negotiated overall package of event needs such as sleeping rooms, meeting room space and other requirements. Contracts with the venue include a provision to reduce event costs if SAE meets or exceeds its minimum sleeping room block guarantee. Conversely, event costs will increase if SAE falls short of its minimum room block guarantee. Please help SAE keep the costs of this event as low as possible by booking your housing needs at the designated host hotel and through the reservation process created by SAE. Reserving elsewhere means you are booking outside the contracted room block, jeopardizing SAE's ability to meet its contracted obligations and to keep registration fees to a minimum. SAE appreciates your support and understanding of this important issue.
