Perspectives on “Work” in Support of Weapon System Maintenance — From the Recently Onboarded to the Seasoned Professional
8:00-10:00 a.m. │ Room 111 B-C
Objective
With a focus on attracting, obtaining, and maintaining a relevant workforce, engage in a lively discussion about what is within the art of the possible to accommodate and manage employment expectations and diverse needs across multiple generations of maintainers.
Abstract
Human Resource challenges within DoD’s maintenance enterprise are well known; however, most discussions tend to be narrowly focused, unimaginative, and mostly descriptive of a situation we all know must improve. This session aims to liven up the dialog by bringing together an array of stakeholders of various ages to “duke it out” based upon their individual and organizational perspectives. This will take the abstract out of how we attract, obtain, and retain, and the maintainers of the equipment and weapon systems that protect and defend this nation. The preferred outcome of this session is the realization of a common goal: placing and caring for our people so that we can accomplish the ultimate mission.
