Organic Depot Maintenance Production Systems

Thursday, December 12, 2019
8:00–11:30 a.m.

Compare and contrast the functionality, key attributes, and analytical features of the production systems used to manage workloads in Department of Defense (DoD) depot maintenance activities. The meeting will demonstrate how these systems integrate overall production, job specific, and management information associated with depot maintenance processes. The meeting will address the question, “How can a compare/contrast illustration provide insight into how these systems, overall, can leverage “best of breed” to provide greater value and transparency into depot maintenance performance measures?”

Objective: Demonstrate and share best practices by illustrating the current scope of information technology supporting DoD depot maintenance production and decision-making. Generate an informed sense of how relevant business information may possibly provide greater transparency into depot performance and contribute to more informed management decision making.

Abstract: In a collaborative setting, representatives from COMFRC, AFMC, and AMC will provide an overview of their service’s maintenance depot production system functionality, followed by a comprehensive description of their service’s depot maintenance performance metrics. These experts will outline the linkages among system functionality, production processes supported, and the current uses of information generated from these systems – both internal and external to their organizations. All participants will then engage in a moderated discussion with the presenters to identify best practices, discuss alternative approaches to depot maintenance system and metrics management, and suggest innovative ways to increase the value of production information. The desired outcome of this meeting is to baseline depot maintenance production system capabilities across the services and leverage all participant’s insights to offer best practices that increase the transparency, commonality, and value of the metrics these systems generate.

Army Maintenance Forum

Monday, December 9, 2019
8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

The Army will conduct an Army Maintenance Forum (AMF) where attendees from the maintenance and sustainment communities will engage in invigorating exchanges of knowledge, ideas and potential challenges regarding maintenance policy and initiatives that are critical to delivering effective and efficient maintenance support of large-scale combat operations (LSCO) and multi domain operations. LSCO involving peer-to-peer and peer-plus adversaries have the potential to overwhelm sustainment capabilities. Thus, the AMF will review topics such as: Army Enterprise Resource Planning Strategy, Army Leader Dashboard—an emerging decision support tool that leverages big data to enable leaders to make informed decisions; Corrosion Prevention and Control Program; Army Maintenance policy changes that will provide Commander’s flexibilities to achieve readiness at the speed of relevance and many more topics. The AMF is a collaborative environment hosted by the Army Deputy Chief of Staff, Logistics (G-4) Director of Maintenance and inclusive of maintenance and sustainment communities—military personnel, government civilians, industry and academia. The purpose of the AMF is to foster peer-to-peer exchange of knowledge and collaboration among the Headquarters, Department of the Army Staff, Army Service Component Command, Army Commands, Direct Reporting Units, industry and academia regarding Army maintenance policy, programs, and initiatives. This meeting is open to all Symposium attendees.
