Technical Tour & Reception at Clemson University

Wednesday, November 8
6:00 – 8:00 p.m

Please join us for a tour of Clemson University’s International Center for Automotive Research (CU-ICAR). Clemson has a dedicated Automotive Engineering Department in the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering with several state-of-the-art facilities. This tour will highlight these state-of-the-art facilities related to automotive energy and propulsion.

  • The Advanced Combustion and Heat Transfer Test Cell has a 100 hp double-ended active dynamometer with two single cylinder research engines: a modern gasoline direct injection (GDI) engine and a modern light-duty diesel engine.
  • The Advanced Powertrain test cell has the ability to test light- to heavy-duty engines and various hybrid powertrain configurations through a combination of conventional engines and electric motors.
  • The Vehicle Propulsion Laboratory has a high torque, high power engine dyno as well as a 250 kW battery tester emulator and a 250 hp high-speed e-motor dyno.

A 500 hp chassis dynamometer is contained in a semi-anechoic chamber capable of driveline noise studies, fuel mileage/range investigations, emissions assessments, sound measurements, and all other chassis dynamometer and sound room-related test activities

(Tour is limited to 200 people. Transportation will be provided. Sign up on the registration page will be available after May 1.)
