The Intersection of Engineering and Policy

When automakers and policymakers are aligned, regulations promote innovation which enhances regulatory thinking. SAE’s Government/Industry Meeting is the annual forum where the auto industry and regulatory agencies unite and find mutual understanding on issues including safety, emissions control, and energy conservation. This meeting is the preeminent opportunity for representatives in government and the industry to engage in critical dialogue in order to find common ground on future vehicle design.

Registration is FREE for all federal and state government employees.

The Government/Industry Meeting will be welcoming aerospace professionals for the first time ever for the NEW co-located AeroTech Government/Industry meeting. This cross-sector opportunity provides a neutral forum for the aerospace industry to meet with government and regulatory agencies on future technologies and safety priorities, and to discuss issues and concerns across the mobility spectrum that affect the future of our industry. General Chair

Adam McNeill

Head of Energy Management & Customer Functions, BMW Group - Government/Industry General Chair

Adam McNeill started his career at Landrover UK before moving to BMW Germany in 1999.  Adam has over 20 years experience in vehicle safety development, and has held various different management positions in the vehicle safety area.  

During the 2019 ESV conference, Adam received a special award of appreciation in recognition and appreciation for vast developments in vehicle safety from NHTSA.

His last role was in the vehicle safety area was leading the concept department focusing on pre development, crash simulation, side impact protection, rear impact protection and high voltage safety.

From January 2020 Adam moved to the USA to take over the BMW of North America, engineering function encompassing all homologation and validation activities for the US market.

Since July 2023 Adam returned to Germany to take over team responsible for total vehicle energy management and customer functions for all BMW group vehicles.

From 2017 until early 2021, Walter was the host of the weekly nationally syndicated program “Politics with Amy Walter” on The Takeaway from WNYC and PRX. She’s also the former political director of ABC News.
