The Industry's Relied-Upon Resource for Regulatory and Standards Updates
The SAE On-Board Diagnostics event, held twice annually, rotates between North America and Europe. Our 2022 Americas event will be available in two formats – face-to-face and on-demand – and will once again unite forward-thinking engineers, executives, OEMs, regulators, suppliers, government, and more to address the ongoing need for technical and regulatory updates.
On-Board Diagnostics Symposium-Americas (OBD-Americas) is the industry’s relied-upon resource for regulatory updates and standards reviews for light- and heavy-duty emissions controls. This critical event is must-attend for anyone involved in on-board diagnostics technology. Here, you will learn from top U.S. and European companies, California Air Resource Board (CARB), Asian companies, and ground vehicle manufacturers and suppliers from around the globe as they discuss the most current and changing emission rules and regulations, and technologies associated with on-board monitoring and calibration systems.

E/E Diagnostic Test Modes: OBDonUDS J1979-2_202104
J1979-2, published in April 2021, describes the communication between the vehicle's OBD systems and test equipment required by OBD regulations. OBD regulations require passenger cars and light-, medium-, and heavy-duty trucks to support a minimum set of diagnostic information to external (off-board) "generic" test equipment.
