2021 Formula SAE Event Structure

SAE International will operate the 2021 competition season using a Hybrid Model offering student engagement in a 2-Step Registration Process.

Operating the 2021 competition season using the hybrid model will allow for any international team to participate in the competition by participating in the Formula SAE Knowledge Event if travel bans and closed borders remain an issue.

Step 1 – Formula SAE Knowledge Event

Registration for this virtual event will be on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 10:00AM EDT. It is a requirement to take part in the virtual Formula SAE Knowledge Event to register for the Formula SAE Validation Event that will be held in person. The registration fee for this event is: $1550.00 USD and will be due within 48 hours of invoice generation.

This event will include the following:

  • Written Design Paper
  • Cost Report Submission
  • Oral Design Presentation
  • Oral Cost Presentation
  • Oral Business Presentation
  • Educational online workshop(s)

Step 2 – Formula SAE Validation Event 

Registration for this event will be on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. EST. It is a requirement to take part in the Formula SAE Knowledge Event to register for this event. The registration fee for this event is: $800.00 USD and will be due 60 Days Out from the Validation Event date.

  • Technical Document Submissions
  • Technical Inspection
  • All Dynamic Events
