Thermal Management Systems Symposium

October 3-4, 2023 | Plymouth, Michigan

Stay Up to Speed on Thermal Systems Technologies and Management

During this time of technical transition and transformation to advanced propulsion, it is more important than ever to have access to timely, relevant information and updates in the areas of cutting-edge technology, standards, regulations, and testing to inform and align strategic initiatives. The ongoing goal is to reduce engine emissions, conserve energy, dissipate heat, reduce noise, improve the cabin environment, and increase the overall vehicle performance. Only the SAE 2023 Thermal Management Systems Symposium (TMSS) provides you critical access directly to the industry's leading experts who are ready to share their latest innovations and solutions.

At TMSS you will engage with engineers from OEMs, Tier 1 & 2 suppliers, regulatory entities, and other discrete part developers from around the globe to discuss industry trends, the latest thermal management and climate control strategies, developments, and systems integration, and still to-be-developed technology impacting thermal systems management. Here, you will have the opportunity to communicate your concerns, issues, and possible solutions pertaining to current and proposed regulations.

TMSS is where important conversations happen. Don’t miss this vital opportunity to interact with and network the best of the best in the field of ground vehicle thermal systems technology and thermal systems management.

Make the Electric Vehicle Thermal Management System More Integrated and Intelligent!

Dr. Rongrong (Roy) Zhang is the vice president of Sanhua Automotive and CTO of Sanhua R&D Center, responsible for new product development of automotive thermal system components and assembly products. He worked in Sanhua on the research and development of components and assembly for new energy vehicle thermal management systems in the past 17 years, including electronic refrigerant valves, electronic coolant valves, and pumps as well as heat exchangers. Currently, he is also developing integrated thermal modules and system solutions for vehicle thermal management systems, contributing to a green and high-quality global environment.

Patrick Kaufman

Global Powertrain Engineering Leader, Accelera by Cummins

Unique Thermal Management Challenges for Fuel Cell Vehicles

Patrick is a technology leader with over 18 years of experience developing xEV products. He currently lead Accelera’s global Powertrain Integration engineering efforts for on-highway vehicles, both fuel cell and battery electric. He originally joined Accelera by Cummins in 2018 through the acquisition of Efficient Drivetrains Inc. (EDI), where he served as Chief Engineer and Director of Development Engineering. Most of his career has been in small, intimate startups trying to bring cutting-edge electrification technology to the market. His commercial successes include the first 100-vehicle order of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) for package delivery in 2012, the world's first plug-in hybrid electric medium-duty utility trucks with built-in 125kW AC export power in 2016, and Accelera’s medium-duty BEV product line started in 2018, now with over 1000 electric school busses on the road. Patrick studied PHEV controls and architecture at UC Davis under Prof. Andy Frank; earning his M.S. in M.E. in 2008. He participated in the SAE ‘Challenge X’ collegiate design series in 2005-2007. He studied at Oregon State University, earning a B.S. in M.E. in 2005, where he participated in SAE ‘Mini Baja’ in 2003-2005.
