Urban Mobility & Smart City Workshop 2020 Transitioning to Virtual Event

Due to concerns around the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, SAE International has made the responsible decision to transition the Urban Mobility & Smart City Workshop to a virtual event and cancel the in-person event, originally scheduled for September 1-2, 2020, Troy, Michigan. Additional information on the virtual event will be made available in the coming weeks.

Before making this decision, we extensively monitored and evaluated health directives from governmental and international health authorities, government- and corporate-imposed travel restrictions, and distancing and gathering directives and recommendations. Our decision to transition to a virtual event aligns with our commitment to prioritizing the health and safety of our speakers, customers, partners and staff who attend our events, while continuing to share mobility knowledge in a digital platform. We apologize for any inconvenience this cancellation has caused.

The automobile is no longer an independent form of transportation. The connected mobility ecosystem is an integrated network that unites the transportation, infrastructure, communications, and energy sectors. Rapid advancements in mobility-as-a-service (MaaS) and multi-modal transportation have transformed mobility preferences for road users, leaving cities struggling to plan for their future investment into infrastructure, land use, and data management.

The SAE 2020 Urban Mobility & Smart Cities Workshop is an interactive forum that addresses the challenges and opportunities that future urban mobility, city planning, and infrastructure development requires – providing application-focused methods and solutions for your day-to-day work. Experts and thought leaders in urban planning, network communications, energy sustainability, and transportation services will engage attendees on the leading questions challenging the industry today.

Come together to build a better mobility and smart city reality.
