Call for Participation: WCX Connected Vehicle Challenge 2019

Propose your best idea to improve people’s lives through innovative mobility, and you may have the opportunity to bring it to life and compete for recognition and a cash award. Build an innovative connected vehicle device or system to demonstrate how vehicle connectivity can enhance communities, quality of life, and the environment. The Connected Vehicle Challenge participant selected as the first prize winner will receive $10,000 USD. Additional prizes will be awarded for second and third place participants. Competition Details

Whether in safety, navigation, autonomous driving, private-public transit or another area, the Connected Vehicle Challenge wants groundbreaking, customer-focused and scalable ideas.

Submit your project concept to Nori Fought. Include a description of the problem and the project you want to build to solve it, as well as a description of your team and each member’s role.

Seven finalists will win free entry to WCX™ 2019 to present their work to a panel of judges and compete for the top three places.

Projects must be newly created during the competition submission period; existing products and software applications are not eligible. The global competition is open to the following:

  • Individuals who have reached the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence at the time of entry
  • Teams of eligible individuals
  • Small organizations (up to 50 employees)

To help complete your project, Challenge contestants will receive complimentary access to the SOLIDWORKS software portfolio through July 31, 2020. The software bundle contains development tools, including 3-D CAD software, FEA and CFD tools, technical documentation tools, and more.

Employees of SAE International or sponsoring companies are not eligible to enter. SAE reserves the right to cancel thie Connected Vehicle Challenge without notice.

Important Deadlines

  • Call for participation: January 18 – March 5

  • Review proposals: Ongoing until March 15 

  • Finalists selected: March 15 

  • Face off at WCX: April 11
