Leading minds at Boeing to present keynote addresses at 2022 SAE International AeroTech

Boeing is proud to support the mission of bringing together the top innovators and thinkers in aerospace, during the annual SAE International AeroTech conference and exhibition. This year, as we are able to attend in person once again, Boeing will offer unique and interesting insights and information during six keynote addresses.

Some of the company’s most innovative and creative minds will share their thoughts on advancing the aviation industry, during times of challenge and beyond.   

Boeing leaders that will speak at the conference include Dr. Naveed Hussain, Boeing’s chief technology officer and vice president and general manager, Boeing Research and Technology. Dr. Danny Howard, director of Space Electrics for Space and Launch Engineering, Boeing Defense, Space and Security. Ramy Mourad, director of Engineering, Boeing Urban Air Mobility. Dr. Melissa Orme, vice president, Boeing Additive Manufacturing. Jason Clark, vice president, Boeing Airplane Programs, Fabrication and Supply Chain Engineering and Matthew Kosmal, regional director of Market Analysis at Boeing.

As you can see, these diverse Boeing minds provide a wide range of expertise on the topics that challenge operators across today’s aerospace landscape.

At the 2022 SAE International AeroTech conference, Boeing will talk about the latest innovations with technical integration to help increase efficiency and examining the frontiers of space exploration.

The latest trends and innovations related to airplane programs and manufacturing will be discussed, as will the exciting development of flight with autonomous electric aircraft.

Dr. Naveed Hussain will discuss how the aviation community must take deliberate steps to emerge stronger and be poised for international growth. Hussain will examine how Boeing is both working together with governments and industry leaders to restore confidence in air travel, and taking a strategic approach to ensure resilience against future disruptions.

Looking ahead, Boeing is invested in the development of the people, technology, and infrastructure that support global connectivity. This includes commitment to making aerospace more sustainable in the decades to come. Dr. Hussain’s keynote address is scheduled on Tues., March 15 from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

Looking to the future of the commercial aviation business, Matthew Kosmal will present Boeing’s long-term projections for commercial airplanes with a look at the near-term market recovery, and will address questions from attendees.

Kosmal notes, “Commercial aviation has always been a long-cycle business, and stakeholders in our industry know that it’s imperative to plan for the future.”

Kosmal’s keynote address is scheduled on Tues., March 15 at 1 p.m.

Dr. Danny Howard will examine the successes and challenges of planning and delivering Space programs. Considering the unique operating environment outside of Earth’s atmosphere, Howard will detail Boeing’s Space programs of today and what to expect in the future.

Specific focus will include discussion of design and engineering challenges that teams face in Space and how to overcome them. Dr. Howard’s keynote address is scheduled on Wed. March 16 from 8:30-10 a.m.

Ramy Mourad will be discussing Boeing’s strategic partnership with Wisk and the pragmatic approach to certifying the world’s first all-electric, self-flying air taxi.

Additionally, in-flight performance of remote-controlled models and development of full-size prototypes will be part of the program. Mourad’s keynote address is scheduled on Wed. March 16 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The latest developments with additive manufacturing is the focus of Dr. Melissa Orme’s presentation. The world of additive manufacturing is predicted to replace traditional manufacturing when it is used to create differentiating products with improved performance and durability.

Orme will examine shorter timeframes and lower costs associated that are not possible with traditional manufacturing procedures. How engineers are adapting long-standing procedures to accept new additive manufacturing processes will be discussed. Dr. Orme’s keynote address is scheduled on Wed., March 16 from 1-1:45 p.m.

Jason Clark will discuss how the latest principles and advancements with engineering are helping to shape the present and future of commercial aviation. Clark’s presentation also will include a view to the future of sustainability across the aviation industry and how engineering is a key driver for its success.

Advances related to safety and quality design and program execution will also be examined. Clark’s keynote address is scheduled on Thurs., March 17 from 8:30-10 a.m.
