Curtis Biggs & Colby Clinton Gull, STEM Work
Curtis Biggs and Colby Clinton Gull are AWIM champions.
Curtis Biggs, Director of Strategic Partnerships at the University of Wyoming and Colby Clinton Gull, Managing Director for the Trustee Education Initiative at the University of Wyoming, have successfully established connections between SAE International and prominent STEM and education figures throughout the two years.
Together, they have helped pave the way for the development of a thriving and sustainable statewide AWIM network, encompassing various grade levels, subject areas, and counties.
“The one statement I can make is, ‘We’re not done yet,’ and Joy and Liz know that,” Curtis said. “We’ve gotten a really great start when it comes to working with the University Science Initiative, the K-12 system in our state, and the other piece is some of our co-curricular and afterschool programming—but the AWIM program, how we integrate that into our maker space programming, how we get that out to the school districts, and again through Science Initiative, I think we’re only getting started.”
Through their partnership, the sheer numbers of students and community members who will participate in AWIM activities is sure to increase the number of students confident in STEM and their strong problem-solving skills that will produce the STEM-fluent workforce in Wyoming.
“I’m honored and flattered that I have this opportunity,” Colby said. “Really, it’s all about the work SAE does all across the country and I’m grateful that I got to be a part of that work and to make a contribution to moving the work forward.”
Curtis and Colby were nominated by SAE’s Senior Education Program Specialist, Elizabeth Simon and SAE Foundation’s Corporate Development and Engagement Officer Specialist, Joy Lancaster.
“Together these individuals have played a pivotal role in nurturing a network of AWIM communities across Wyoming, a state renowned for its discerning approach to educational programs adopted in schools and classrooms,” Joy said.
Congratulations, Curtis and Colby! Thank you both for all that you do.
