Jessica Swan & Angela Xydis, Leadership Contributions
Jessica Swan and Angela Xydis move mountains.
Jessica Swan, Architectural Controls System Manager at General Motors, and Angela Xydis, Associate Program Engineering Manager – Ultifi at General Motors, volunteer as Concept Design Co-Captains for the AutoDrive Challenge™.
As leaders in one of the most mission critical areas of this competition, they are responsible for delivering technical direction and assessment relative to the student teams’ builds and designs. Under their exemplary leadership, concept design is the arena where student creativity and remarkable progress shine and receive the recognition they deserve.
“It really means a lot because I actually participated in this when I was a student in college, and it really solidified my interest in the automotive industry, so I knew I wanted to continue volunteering and give back,” Angela said. “To be recognized for that is really special.”
Concept Design is the heart of the AutoDrive Challenge™ and it thrives under Angela and Jessica’s impeccable leadership. Simply put, without Concept Design there is no AutoDrive Challenge™.
“I’m very excited to have gotten this recognition tonight and what it means to me is that SAE is very interested in keeping volunteers engaged and interacting with the students,” Jessica said.
Angela and Jessica were nominated by SAE Education Program Specialist Zac Pace, who has nothing but praise for them and the work they do.
“The influence of their roles as event captains in this domain extends significantly, yielding profoundly positive effects for the entire mobility industry,” Zac said.
Congratulations, Angela and Jessica! Thank you both for all that you do.
