Updated September 14, 2020

SAE International is a responsible partner, committed to prioritizing the health and safety of our members, customers, partners and staff. Throughout the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we’ve continued to follow protocols established by international health authorities as well as all local, state and federal government mandates and recommendations, so we can make well-informed decisions. To ensure we can continue our mission and ability to share knowledge with the mobility community, we will adhere to industry best practices to engage all parties virtually, where appropriate.

Frequently Asked Questions

1.  What is the impact on scheduled SAE events, courses and programs?

The ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to impact the travel, hospitality and events sectors. As a responsible partner, SAE International has made the decision to either postpone or transition many of our 2020 events, courses and programs to virtual platforms. Most 2021 events will feature an all-digital or hybrid (in-person with digital) format. The digital events allow for continued education and knowledge sharing in a convenient and safe “at-home” setting for all parties. We continue to monitor the situation to determine the best approach for all future SAE events. Should the status of any other SAE event or program change, information will be promptly shared to all registered participants, attendees, sponsors, exhibitors, and other parties, through direct communications and via the specific event’s webpage.

2. What is SAE International’s cancellation and refund policy if I am unable to attend an event due to travel or other restrictions related to the coronavirus situation?

SAE International will issue a full refund for attendees impacted by the current travel restrictions imposed by the U.S. State Department.

3. What safety measures have been implemented to reduce the impact from the coronavirus?

We are continually monitoring and assessing national and international developments, and are adhering to protocols established by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as travel restrictions from both the U.S. Department of State and partner organizations. Should the situation change, we will provide updates on this webpage.

4. How is this situation impacting the A World In Motion (AWIM) program this year?

SAE International and the SAE Foundation are working with all stakeholders to provide contingency plans and alternative solutions for all A World In Motion (AWIM) classroom deliveries, events and engagements for the remainder of 2020. To provide PreK-8 educators and students access to hands-on AWIM solutions, SAE STEM@Home resources are accessible for fun and enriching STEM activities anytime.
